Description
Okimono made of boxwood and shaped like a carp. The details are finely sculpted, the eyes are especially realistic and inlaid with glass and gold, the mouth hollow. The body of the fish is shown in full movement, as if it was swimming.
A seal in the name of Tametsugu is carved in a cartouche situated on the lower belly.
The okimono comes with its wooden box, on which the “koi” character (“carp in Japanese”) is inscribed. Calligraphed inscriptions (yuusekido tametsugu saku) and a seal on the reverse side of the lid.
