Description
Steel truncheon decorated with a dragon inlaid in nunomezogan. Handle covered with leather and silver fittings.
The jitte or jutte was a defensive weapon used by policemen, most of which were not allowed to wear swords. The classical jitte was as a metal bar fitted with a hook that allowed to break a sword blade.
This particular model, naeshi or nayashi jitte, is of a rare type. It is shorter and has no hook. That made it easier to hide during investigations.
