Description
An Edo vibrant jingasa disk shaped hat of Kanshitsu (dry lacquer) with slight central rise covered in tataki-nuri textured black lacquer with striking gold designs of diamond-shaped flower hanabishi. This design was used as a kamon for several samurai clan.
The underside is completely gilded with genuine gold. There is a diaper from which a type of cloth shade could be attached to protect the back of te head and neck from sun. In overall fine condition, with minor nocks to the lacquer typical of age.
