Description
Carving made of rammed earth, lacquered in red and gold representing Amituo (Chinese name. Sanskrit: Amitayus; Japanese: Amida). He is the Buddha of limitless life, and is represented meditating on a stylised lotus flower.

On the bottom of the sculpture is a label marked with: Pagoda of a Thousand Buddhas – Former Collection of Pierre Loti.
